Downloading an ebook from EBSCO

Follow the instructions on the tab Checking out an EBSCO ebook and Checking out an Ebook Central for downloading to a computer or laptop.

After you have downloaded an ebook onto your computer, you only have a few steps left before it is on your Nook. This process is the same for an ebook that you downloaded from EBSCO or ebrary.

  • You will need to open your ebook in Adobe Digital Editions (ADE).  Go to the folder where you downloaded the ebook (usually it is your downloads folder) and right click and hit open with.  Your computer may give you ADE as one of your options.  If it does give you this option, click it.  If it does not, you will need to find the program in your program files. This will open up ADE and the book on your screen. To get to the main screen from the book, click on Library at the top left of your screen.
  • Connect your Nook to your computer. The Nook should appear in the left side bar of the ADE program.
  • Once in your library, you should see the title of the book you downloaded. Click on the ebook icon and drag it over to the Nook icon. this will load your ebook onto your Nook.
  • In order for your ebook to show up on your Nook, you may need to go into your My Documents and click on check for new content (This depends on the type of Nook that you have).
  • The ebook will remain active on your Nook for the number of days that you asked for the loan. After it expires, you will no longer be able to open the ebook. There is no renewal procress, but you can re-check the book out as many times as you want.

Enjoy your ebook :)
