Generally, research papers and essays are formatted in MLA style. MLA style includes:
  • 1" Margins (Top, Bottom, Left, and Right)
  • Times New Roman 12 pt font
  • Lines are double-spaced
  • Last Name and page number in header
  • Heading in top left of first page
  • Text is aligned left; however, indent first line of each paragraph
  • Works Cited page with citations matching the in-text citations

MLA 8th ed. Practice Template

Generally, when citing research using the MLA 8th edition, use all of the available and pertinent information necessary for the reader to locate the source. If the information is unavailable or unnecessary, leave it out of the citation. However, always refer to the instructions for an assignment and defer to the instructor's preferences.
