There are numerous AI detector sites which claim the ability to identify AI generated content. These AI detectors may produce inaccurate results. It is possible that the detectors could incorrectly flag a student's legitimately written work as being AI generated, particularly if the student is not a native English speaker (Myers, 2023). AI language models are frequently updated with new datasets, and an AI detector that was trained on one version of a model might not be able to identify a different version.
Most AI detectors are proprietary software products. Users can typically test only a limited amount of text for free before being prompted to register an account or subscribe to the site.
